The design
This classic bonnet has a softly structured brim, a rounded crown, long ties, and a clean lined finish. It is designed to be comfortable to wear and satisfying to sew, with clear instructions to guide you through every step.
Skill level
Beginner friendly. The photo-rich tutorial explains cutting, interfacing, sewing the crown and brim, adding the ties, lining the bonnet, turning, and final finishing.
Fabric suggestions
Lightweight woven cotton, quilting cotton, cotton lawn, linen, chambray, seersucker, gingham, and small-scale printed fabrics are all lovely choices. Avoid very slippery fabrics if you are new to sewing.
Printing
Print templates at 100% / Actual Size. Do not select “Fit to Page” or “Scale to Fit.” Measure the included test square before cutting your fabric.
Small-business use
You may sell up to 100 finished items made from this pattern. Please credit Cheri Demeter as the pattern designer. Mass production, copying, sharing, reselling, translating, or redistributing the pattern or tutorial is prohibited.
In-person workshops are permitted only when each participant purchases their own copy of the pattern. Online workshops using or distributing this pattern are not permitted.
Safety
Hats with ties or embellishments should be used on babies and young children only under direct adult supervision. Never leave a baby unattended while wearing a hat.
