BEGINNER-FRIENDLY PROJECT
This is an approachable project for makers with basic sewing-machine experience. The step-by-step photographs guide you through every stage. Buttonholes may be the most challenging step for a complete beginner; if preferred, you can use small sew-on snap fasteners instead of buttons and buttonholes.
RECOMMENDED FABRICS
Lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics work best, including linen, cotton, quilting cotton, shirting cotton, gingham, light canvas, and soft burlap. Fusible interfacing may be added when using lightweight, stretchy, or slightly slippery fabric.
APPROXIMATE FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
Based on 55″ (140 cm) wide fabric:
- Removable cover — Size M: ¾ yd (70 cm)
- Removable cover — Size L: ⅞ yd (80 cm)
- Pillow insert — Size M: ½ yd (50 cm)
- Pillow insert — Size L: ½ yd (50 cm)
- Optional fusible interfacing — Size M: ¾ yd (70 cm)
- Optional fusible interfacing — Size L: ⅞ yd (80 cm)
You will also need polyester fiberfill, two small buttons or sew-on snap fasteners, basic sewing tools, and a sewing machine.
PRINTING YOUR PATTERN
Open the template PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader and print at 100% / Actual Size. Do not select “Fit,” “Fit to Page,” “Shrink,” or “Scale to Fit,” as these settings will change the pattern dimensions.
Print the instruction page first and measure the included 2″ × 2″ and 5 × 5 cm test squares before printing the remaining template pages.
